THE CUP STAYS HOME!
13th September, we welcomed 7 teams to play in our U15 tournament, namely, HF Sport, Dulwich Village, Athenlay, Petts Wood Albotross, Petts Wood Sparrowhawks, Adelaide Kings and Teviot Rangers.
Group stages we had Petts Wood Albotross, Petts Wood Sparrowhawks and Adelaide Kings. Our boys had a challenging group, but they played with a positive attitude and a fantastic work ethic. Results below;
AFC Lewisham 1 - 0 Petts Wood Sparrowhawks (Corey Rose)
AFC Lewisham 1 - 1 Petts Wood Albotross (Aaron James)
AFC Lewisham 2 - 1 Adelaide Kings and (Corey Rose & Junior Pila)
We won our group with 7 points & time for Semi Finals against HF Sport which we knew was going to be a vigorous match but that didn’t phase the boys at all. The ref’s whistle started their engines and the boys were off with aggression, unity and composure. After a number of shots we finally put the ball in the back on the net in the first half by Junior Pila. The match ended 1 - 0.
Now to the final with a couple of knocks, the boys were eager to face Dulwich Village. You could feel the tension from both teams which was great, as it resulted to an amazing game. In the second half an amazing through ball was played and Junior Pila finished it with ease. One team had to win and thats we did!
No doubt every player contributed to the success of the team, but the player who stood out from start to finish was Kleon James. He didn’t let a ball pass his path or shy away from a tackle. WELL DONE!
